Training Training for Clinical Psychology students, MFT interns and Paraprofessionals Since it’s inception, CIFC has been affiliated with accredited psychology programs from schools such as Phillips Graduate Institute, Antioch University, University of Judaism, CSUN, Cal State Los Angeles, Cal State Fullerton and Pacific Oaks, just to name a few. We work closely with these schools to insure that their students, our interns are receiving the quality training that they need to ensure a successful career as a psychotherapist. Currently we offer two training programs for MFT Trainees, Interns and Counseling Paraprofessionals. The first program is an 18 month commitment to train at CIFC and attend required group supervision on Wednesdays from 3pm-5pm. For the working professionals who can not come to train at CIFC during regular business hours, we offer weekend programs. The weekend counselor will see clients and receive supervision in a group setting during their assigned Saturday or Sunday schedule. This program also requires an 18 month commitment to train at the center. How do I sign up to be a counselor at CIFC? If you are interested in applying to either our regular or weekend clinical training programs, please call the office at 818 761 2227 so that we may make an appointment with you. What are the requirements to be accepted as a counselor? Trainee therapists must be enrolled in an accredited graduate clinical psychology or counseling program and have completed all prerequisite paperwork from your school. Therapist Interns must register with the California Board of Behavioral Sciences as a registered MFT Intern and give a copy of their registration to the CIFC administrative staff. All applicants need to complete a “Trainee/Intern Volunteer” form and submit it to the CIFC office. An interview will be arranged with the Executive Director to evaluate each candidates qualifications before acceptance in to our training program. Is there an orientation meeting? For candidates who are interested in learning more about our agency, we offer orientation meetings throughout the year. Here you will get to see first hand our agency in action as well as meet with other CIFC counselors. A group question and answer session will be facilitated by the Executive Director and our senior staff counselors. What about clinical supervision during my training? Our Clinical Supervisors come from various back grounds, orientations and training. It is our goal at CIFC to offer our Trainees and Interns a well rounded clinical experience from the depth of experience our Clinical Supervisors have to offer. Please see our "Who We Are" page for information about our clinical supervisors. |
