About Us

CIFC is located in North Hollywood, California and is an independent, self-supporting, non-profit, 501(c) 3, Community Service Agency. We provide quality, low-cost mental health services to the San Fernando Valley community on an ability-to-pay basis. We also are a training facility for Marriage Family Therapy Trainees, Interns and Counseling Paraprofessionals.

We at CIFC recognize the importance of sound mental health and personal enrichment as integral parts of an individual, family, and community life. Our humanistic counseling philosophy and eclectic psychotherapeutic orientations provide a safe, supportive and caring environment in which clients may explore their thoughts, feelings and alternatives, regarding issues in their lives.

CIFC is a place where Trainees and Interns are able to become involved as a Counselor and develop long term relationships with colleagues sharing mutual acceptance. We believe safety and confidentiality are very important ingredients in the building of trust and intimacy in human relationships and in our professional relationships. In an atmosphere of safety and trust we are more likely to risk being open and honest with each other growing personally and developing professionally.

CIFC’s goal is to provide effective counseling, educational programs and personal growth experiences to further the well being of members of the community and in the training of its staff. In keeping with these goals, we have increased our community oriented programming by providing counseling services to students and their families in area public schools; bi-lingual counseling; Spanish language parenting classes for the Latino community; and counseling services for clients from the Victims of Crime Program. We are also child advocates in the realm of mental health
